Strike Out Challenge

Hello, hello, helloooooo!!!! (She’s being very exuberant xD) And we are back, with a joint post between Victoria and I, doing (as the post’s name suggests) the strike out challenge. So thanks to Lily for nominating us.

Anyhoosies….. the idea of this challenge is that there are a list of things, and basically you strike out the things you’ve done and leave the things you haven’t done. So. Let’s start, shall we?

(Victoria’s comments are in bold.) *thinks of a terrible joke that’s way to bad to say to anybody*

Isabelle’s Answers:

Kissed someone: No, not in a romantic way. Ew. Yuck. Ick. I’m good for now, thanks.

Gone to a rock concert: Nah. Maybe someday I’ll go to a concert for Newsboys or Skillet or something like that. Or for KING & COUNTRY (yes! please! for KING & COUNTRY!!!) (Amen!!!), but they’re not a rock group so…

Helped someone: Yeah, I have.

Gone fishing: Fishing’s not really my thing however, though deep sea fishing is kinda fun.

Watched four movies in one night: The most I can remember is three. We might have been able to make it for a fourth, ’cause we were pretty full of caffeine, but we played Exploding Kittens instead. Yeah… we stayed up until around 6:00 AM. I was getting a bit cranky, lol. (Or was it just a bit? Please don’t answer, Isabelle ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜‚)

Lied to someone: I’m not proud of it.

Failed a subject: I probably would have failed Algebra if it weren’t for all the help I got from my dad and my teacher. And me!! I’m sure my explanation of the dots and cars was invaluable!!! *definitely not*

Been in a car accident: Not that I remember, although once probably less than a year ago, my mom, my sister and I were walking across a parking lot and this person was backing up in their car and they almost hit us. I don’t know if they even saw us at all. But we able to dart out of the way, thankfully.

Been in a tsunami: Nope. Although once I was part of a gym show/skit where a bunch of us kids were supposed to be kids orphaned by a tsunami in Thailand. But that was just made up. I played a girl who died.

Watched someone die (including pets): Thankfully, no. But we have had two pets that died (not including fish), and I have known people who have died.

Been to a funeral: If a memorial counts. I don’t remember ever going to an actual funeral, though.

Burned yourself: When I was young and foolish, there were a couple times when I thought it was a marvelous idea to try touching a fireplace and a burner (respectively) to see if they were hot. Guess what? They were. Those are just a couple times I’ve been burned, but thankfully I haven’t had really bad burns. I have learned my lesson, however. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Run a marathon: Ah, no. Too lazy.

Spent over 10,000 bucks in one day: No. Definitely not.

Flown on an aeroplane: Yes. Many times, many times.

Written an 18-page letter (front & back): I’ve written letters before, but I don’t remember any of them being that long. The hand cramps sound…fun. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Gone skiing: Yes! Lots of times. I think my parents first took me skiing when I was two or three years old, and we go almost every year. I started snowboarding a few years ago, as well. Both are really, really fun. (Although snowboarding is painful when you start. I fell a lot (still do). My butt, my poor butt. The pain is real.)

Lost someone you loved: I’ve known people who have passed away, but I haven’t lost anyone really close to me.

Got into trouble for something you didn’t do: Sometimes life is so unfair… ๐Ÿ˜‚

Stolen a book from a library: Not that I know of.

Gone to a different country: Yes! Aside from my country (Canada), I’ve been to the USA, Bermuda, Jamaica, and Mexico.

Gambled in a casino: Naw. Plus, I’m still a minor, soo…. probably illegal.

Been in a school play: Many times. I even got to write one of our school plays (with some help). It was a really good play!!!

Taken a lie detector test: Nay, I hast not.

Voted for someone on a reality TV show: I don’t watch TV. Sorry.

Read more than 20 books a year: I’m currently on my 47th book this year (counting since late January and not including 3 DNFs and the books I’ve read for school)

Gone to Europe: Not yet, but hopefully someday! (Europe!! AHHHHHH!!!! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜)

Had a surgery: Not that I can recall. Surgery sounds…kinda freaky. (I have had a couple teeth pulled before, though, and that was creepy because even though they numbed my mouth I could still hear the creaking and cracking of the dentist prying my teeth out. That was disturbing.๐Ÿคง๐Ÿคฎ)

Had stitches: Again, not that I can recall.

Ridden a tuk tuk (autorickshaw): *looks up what that is* Ahh, that looks so cute and fun! I would love to try that someday!

Had more than 5 IM conversations going on at once: Well, there was a time when I individually messaged 7 or more of my peers about a trip we/I was planning and then was waiting for/receiving and responding to their answers all in the same evening, but that was more spaced out rather than all at once, soo……not really? I have had multiple conversations going at once, though, and it can get a little hectic. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Been in a fist fight: It’s a little embarrassing to say, but when we were younger my sister and I used to fight…a lot ๐Ÿ˜ณ. Some of our fights could get rather physical, (*exposed* Well this is embarrassing… and a rather shameful memory… or series of such ๐Ÿ˜ฌ)but I pulled her hair more than punched her, so not exactly a fist fight, right?

Had a pet: Yeah, lots of pets, actually. My family has had fish, three dogs, two cats (plus three kittens), three mice (okay, the mice were mine, but ok.), and a rabbit throughout the years. We currently have a cat named Daisy and a poodle named Winnie.

Petted a wild animal: Ermmm….I don’t remember doing that. But I did once help someone release an injured wild duck that their dog had caught. I didn’t touch the bird, though.

Had your own credit card & bought something with it: Nay.

Dyed your hair: I almost got my sister to do highlights in my hair earlier this year, but that never happened. I’ll probably dye my hair someday though.

Got a tattoo: Nah. If I ever did, it would be a small one. They’re just so permanent, though.

Had something pierced: I got my ears pierced earlier this summer. And they’re still not healed after seven weeks…๐Ÿ˜’๐Ÿ˜ญ Ah well.

Got a straight A: I hold myself to pretty high standards in school.

Taken pictures with a webcam: Does the selfie cam on a smartphone count?

Gone to sleep with music on: My sister and I used to listen to music while we slept when we were younger, but not anymore.

***

Victoria

Kissed someone: Not romantically.

Gone to a rock concert: Nope. But maybe I’ll go to a Skillet concert with my sis someday. (They went to Europe. *pouts*) (*also pouts*) I would LOVE to go to a forK&C concert eventually – that would probably be more likely than rock… yeahnyways…

Helped someone: Yep.

Gone fishing: I have… but it’s not really my cup of tea, because I don’t seem to catch anything ๐ŸŽฃ๐Ÿคฃ

Watched four movies in one night: As far as I know, three is the max. Belle and I did watch In the Heart of the Sea and all of Ms. Marvel in one day though, so that was quite a bit. Okay, probably about equivalent to 3 movies, so…

Lied to someone: Sadly, yes.

Failed a subject: No, I haven’t. I try my best to get good grades.

Been in a car accident: No again. As Belle said, someone almost backed into us though ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

Been in a tsunami: Thank God I haven’t.

Watched someone die (including pets): I have not. I would be a wreck if I had to.

Been to a funeral: I have been to a couple memorials, where people stood and spoke of the person the memorial was for, but no coffin or ashes or whatever was brought in.

Burned yourself: Yup. I touched a hot iron, I disobeyed my mom and touched a hot pan (learned my lesson there)… yeah, I’ve also gotten a number of other small burns (including one today, actually xD). As well as… sunburns, lol ๐Ÿ˜‚

Run a marathon: No. Well, does some homemade kiddie triathlons count? ๐Ÿค” (I think I failed even at those ๐Ÿ˜‚) Basically, I am not very strong… or stamina-ful… or athletic… nor do I even try to gather the willpower for such things ehe

Spent over 10,000 bucks in one day: Hallelujah no.

Flown on an aeroplane: Over 30 times, I believe.

Written an 18-page letter (front & back): Definitely not that long.

Gone skiing: I love skiing!! I was just a tiny tot when I learned, and I’ve recently taken up snowboarding too! I love winter sports like that. (Even though I only get to like 2 times a year)

Lost someone you loved: One of my kindergarten teachers passed away in 2019, and I loved her, but I wasn’t like super close with her. I haven’t lost family or close friends though (unless moving away counts)

Got into trouble for something you didn’t do: Um, I honestly can’t remember ๐Ÿ˜‚ Well, there was a certain… incident… which happened last school year that resulted in a superior getting upset and we didn’t think what we had done was so bad… um… that’s all Imma say for now haha (Ah. Yes. That incident. What can I say? It was epic. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿฅณ)

Stolen a book from a library: No.

Gone to a different country: Four, in fact! Same as Belle.

Gambled in a casino: Nay. I have had a couple of bets with one of my friends though (one of which involved a horse’s name and a prize of candy, and the others of which involved a bit of money that didn’t actually have to be paid and who of the two of us would be struck out first in dodgeball)

Been in a school play: A lot of times, since I was quite young. (Like when you were cast as the old hag! ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ) Ahem. Yes that. I was more of a wise woman than an old hag though, okay Belle?

Taken a lie detector test: Nope.

Voted for someone on a reality TV show: Nuh-uh.

Read more than 20 books a year: *smug grin aimed at Isabelle* I have read 49 books this year (including Vol. 1 of the Twilight graphic novels (please don’t ask ๐Ÿ˜) (Yes, literature at its finest ๐Ÿ™„) (Yeah, Belle and I are Twi-haters, you could say. Edward was a creep and Bella was an idiot.)), plus one DNF that I, well, DNFed, at 10 pages. After three days. Don’t ask ๐Ÿ˜‚

Gone to Europe: Sadly, no. I dream of the day I can though ๐Ÿ˜

Had a surgery: My umbilical cord was removed. XDDDDD Okay fine, that probably doesn’t count, so I guess the answer would be no. Well, I had 4 teeth removed at once (not wisdom), so that’s sort of oral surgery…

Had stitches: Nuh-uh, thank God. (How many times would you pass out if you did ever get stitches, Victoria?? ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ˜‚) – Let’s not think about that xD

Ridden a tuk tuk (autorickshaw): *also does a quick search* Nay, I have not, but they are aDORable! I know, right!!! Let’s ride one together someday!!!!! AHH!! XD

Had more than 5 IM conversations going on at once: No, I don’t think so. I don’t message very many people, nor do they message me haha

Been in a fist fight: Not per se…

Had a pet: I have had three mice pets (Pipsqueak, Squash, and Pi)(which we ended up returning. Twas a sad story.) and our fam has previously had 2 dogs (Cassie and Charlie), 1 cat (Teddy), and 1 rabbit (Lightning) in the past. Now we have Winnie, our crazy but sweet 5-year-old poodle, and Daisy, our sweet 9-year-old kitty.

Petted a wild animal: I don’t think so. Currently, I’d be worried about the germs ๐Ÿคฃ

Had your own credit card & bought something with it: No.

Dyed your hair: No. I did try to bleach a tiny chunk with hydrogen peroxide, but that didn’t really work xD Or when you tried that hack that was supposed to give you highlights using lemon juice and the sun. Oh yeah, I forgot about that.

Got a tattoo: Nope. Real tattoos seem too permanent. I wouldn’t mind a henna tattoo though.

Had something pierced: My ears. I almost passed out afterwards, and the lady was giving me candy (I ended up with a Snickers and a Fun Dip xD), getting me water, and also commenting on how people’s ears ringing (which is what was happening to me, among other things) often happened before they passed out ๐Ÿ˜‚ Imagine if you had passed out though. That would have been…interesting. (I’m probably supposed to have more kind-hearted sympathy than that, right?๐Ÿ˜‚)

Got a straight A: I have high standards for myself.

Taken pictures with a webcam: I don’t think so?

Gone to sleep with music on: For years, actually.

And now, Isabelle and I would like to nominate these people to do this challenge if they so wish. If y’all don’t want to or have already been nominated that’s alright as well.

  1. For King and Country is so good!!! I’d absolutely love to go to a concert of theirs. XD Haha and yes, the hand cramps that come with writing 18-page letters are no joke. (I’ve never written such a long letter in one sitting; it takes a few weeks, but still. Not very comfortable.) Also, Victoria, I have like zero stamina too when it comes to running! ๐Ÿ˜‚ *groans*

All of your answers were awesome!!!!

    1. Yasss another for KING & COUNTRY fan!!! *blinks* That’s a long project xD Haha! I remember one summer when a group of us would have devotions with our old gym teacher’s mom, but he would do it some days in her place. And what do you know, he liked making us run. I was always near the back. *sighs* ๐Ÿ˜‚ And thank you!

    2. Whooo!!! Three cheers for for KING & COUNTRY!! (hip, hip, hooray!) A few weeks for one letter?! That’s some dedication…๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ‘ Bless your hand cramps. ๐Ÿ˜œ And here I am, lazy about even hand-writing a couple pages. ๐Ÿ™Š Yay, thank you so much! ๐Ÿฅณ

  2. YAY, you guys did the challenge! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿค—

I would also love to go to a For King & Country concert! And goodness, Exploding Kittens is a family favorite for us! ๐Ÿ˜†

That tsunami skit sounded very… interesting. Seriously, though, if you go skiing without gloves and fall, your hands are going to be so cold they feel like they’re burning. Relatable, anyone?

I’m scared just reading y’all describing getting teeth pulled out. ๐Ÿ˜‚

    Haha, I didn’t know there was a fish-on-the-line emoji! ๐ŸŽฃ Interesting!

Woww, that’s a lot of airplane experience! Hopefully you guys got to go to some cool places through that?

I will respect any person who knows how to snowboard. ๐Ÿ‘‘ You gotta tell what the “certain… incident” was! I’m super curious!!

Phew! *wipes brows* I was scared y’all were big on Twilight at first!

I loved reading through your answers. Many were funny and all were amazing! โค๏ธ Thanks again for answering the tag! (It’s the first time I’ve tagged people for a challenge like this. ๐Ÿ˜Š)

    1. Ooh yay! Another forK&C fan!! ๐ŸŽ‰
When I go skiing, I always wear gloves except for when it’s a warm day. I even get cold with gloves sometimes lol. But yeah, snow can make my hands so cold it burns.
Ohh the teeth pull – I remember crunching sounds in my head too ๐Ÿ˜‚ Not a super pleasant experience xD
We have had a lot of interesting travel experience, actually.
Ah yes, the “incident.” It involved a Shrek meme, lunch break, a couple friends, and the student computers… ๐Ÿธ๐Ÿคฃ There were rows of computers along two walls (about 12 computers). A number of other students were playing in the gym, and we decided it would be the perfect opportunity to give all of their computers a wallpaper upgrade. So we put the Shrek meme for all the wallpapers. Rows of Shrek faces glowing out at us. Twas a glorious sight. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ
No no. We are very much NOT Twilight fans ๐Ÿ˜†
Aww thank you! It was our pleasure โœจ!

    2. Yes! A for KING & COUNTRY concert would be an amazing experience!! ๐Ÿ˜
Yeth, Exploding Kittens is really fun!
Yeah, I usually wear gloves when I ski, but I have had the so-cold-it-feels-like-burn feeling from snow before.
Having teeth pulled is an unpleasant experience, but on the bright side though, it could be worse – imagine if they forgot to numb your mouth. ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ˜ฑ
Yeah, we’ve had a lot of interesting and unique experiences while travelling.
Ooh, the incident. We kinda got into trouble, but it was still suuper epic!! (And yes, Shrek face up Shrek face upon Shrek face….a glorious sight indeed!! ๐Ÿคฃ)
Ah, no. We are DEFINITELY not Twilight fans. I sorta liked the first book when I read it a year ago, but….my opinions have changed since then.
Ayyy, thank you so much!! It was a fun challenge. Thanks again for the nomination! ๐Ÿ˜Š

      1. I do wonder how much that would hurt… I had my mouth numbed for dealing with a cavity once (I used to pride myself on not having any cavities, but alas! No longer!) It leaves your mouth feeling so puffy and strange!

What would you say is your favorite place from your trips? I love traveling!

But you guys are normally good students, right? ๐Ÿ˜‚ If only you had a teacher with a good sense of humor!

      2. Yeah, I don’t really know what it’s like to get a filling, ’cause I’ve actually never had one. But I do remember how hard it was to drink from a cup without spilling when my mouth was numb from having teeth pulled. ๐Ÿ˜‚

My favourite place? Ach, that’s hard!! I’ve been to a lot of cool places (and some very warm ones (sorry, bad pun ๐Ÿ˜œ)).

        Liked by 1 person

    3. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ Stop it with the teeth-pulling descriptions! ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜‚

Cool! You should think about blogging about some of it!

Ohmygrapes, NO WAY! You guys actually did that? And why do I feel like that’s something I’d be inclined to do as well? ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜ณ

Yeah, not bored at all. More like constipated, annoyed, sick-of-whoever-he’s-staring-at Shrek. ๐Ÿ˜‚

      1. Ohh, cool, cool! I saw you at the summit Brett Harris had going on, by the way. ๐Ÿ™‚ My sister did The Young Writer’s Workshop; I don’t write as much as she does. I definitely feel like I recognize your name from somewhere, though! Are you on Goodreads by any chance?

        Liked by 1 person

      2. Ahh fun!! Ooh, who is your sister? Maybe we’ve met. ๐Ÿ™‚ Heh, I wonder where!! I feel like I’ve seen yours too, tho.๐Ÿง ๐Ÿ˜› Nah, but I want to be. ๐Ÿ™‚

        Liked by 1 person

      3. Yepp! I don’t think she interacted with any of the other students, though. ๐Ÿ˜‚ She just did the lessons and such; we were totally new to the entire concept! Haha, that’s so strange! Hm…Are you published, by any chance? Or are you on Instagram?

        Liked by 1 person

      4. Aww, the Content Library is a GREAT place to hang out. ๐Ÿ˜› I KNOW RIGHT?!! Nope, not Instagram. Story Embers or Kingdom Pen, maybe?

      5. Man, not knowing is going to drive me BONKERS. XD Start out in Introduce Yourself!! Then ask for suggestions as to people’s favorite CL lessons and maybe make a linked list? *shrugs* Depends on what you’re looking for in the community. ๐Ÿ™‚

      6. Mm, getting a mentor was really helpful. Some of my favorite lessons were “How to Jumpstart your Novel” the worldbuilding one by Josiah DeGraaf, and Kara Swanson’s “Writing is a Marathon, Not a Sprint”. If you’re on Ydubs now, you might be able to find my profile. I have a list of lessons there you could look at. ๐Ÿ˜€
